Good afternoon members. First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Sarah Jane Go, treasurer of Environment Society and I am currently running for the position of President. For this academic year, the executive board did a very good job in maintaining the organization for being active not only in helping the environment, but at the same time helping other people who are in need. Not only did these current officers do, but they also make things that would make the organization be recognized by the institution such as having our tree mascot in KaTREEna.
As what one of the speakers said during our Scholastic Leadership Training, the country does not improve because leaders keep on changing its programs whether it was a good one or a bad one. A country can be compared to an organization. As an officer, we all wanted to make our organization better or to keep on doing the things that the former officers were able to pass on to us. With that, I would plan to keep KaTREEna within our organization to symbolize the continued legacy of what the incumbent president has given to us. I have planned some activities for the next school year, particularly focusing on sanitation since we were dealt with many dengue cases this past year. Being part of this organization for four years, I can say that year in and year out most of the members would want is to have an outdoor activity. I am not promising it would happen, but I will try my best to pursue an activity outside this school. With this, I am planning to make a survey in which it would be asked during the recruitment week on what the members would want to expect from this organization. With this, we could have compromise to meet what the member expects, at the same time fulfil the objectives of the organization.
I know that being the president would be a tough one since I would be filling in big shoes of what the past presidents were able to accomplish. Nevertheless, I know that my past leadership experiences from high school up to college would be able to help me to lead better. I have been part of the executive board for quite some time such as becoming a treasurer twice and an internal vice president for the last school year. With handling various positions within and outside the organization, I can say that I know how the system works since I was able to grasp the things that I needed to learn in order to equip myself to serve you better. In addition, I can also help other executive board members, who might have a hard time pertaining to their current task. Like what I have said a while ago, I’ve been there before. With these, we can be sure that our organization would function very well. Thank you very much for your time.
